Hi All,
Just bought one of these Wolf 6" Horiz./Vert. Metal Cutting Band Saws...
... I know it's a Cheapnese job, but at the Special Offer price of £84.99+vat I just couldn't resist it.
It turned up in one 90kg package and looked intact, but I did have some bother in putting it together:
- One of the belt pulley's had been damaged (a chunk chipped off)
- The drive belt housing was bashed in.
- The drive belt housing safety switch was damaged
- aforementioned safety switch actuating 'prong' was bent (and snapped off trying to straighten it)
- the crappy belt tension bolt was bent
- The Start/Stop switch box was crushed (but some gaffa tape fixed that)
- Not enough screws/bolts/nuts were in the box (and were crap anyway)
- Oh Quality! - bolts with off-centre heads and nuts with off-centre holes
- The manual is crap.
Having said all that... it was pretty damn CHEAP!
After quite a bit of 'fettling', even the monkey-metal-looking blade managed to cut some 1" steel tube
(which I was not really expecting!)
And now for the QUESTION:
In the second picture, there's a rod with a cast handle on the end. It looks like the handle fits on the rod and the rod looks like it fits in this hole on the front of the saw... but WHAT'S IT FOR ?
Best answer gets the promise of a beer if you catch me in the pub.
(which isn't difficult ... it's The Haven in Hedon, Hull )
Yours,
Tony Wilk
P.S. We have builders in at the moment. 'T gaffer asked (on spotting my tractor featuring WeedyForks(tm)): "can you lift that old 5,000L oil tank onto our truck?"
I said: "Er... no, go and hire some decent lifting gear" (which I reckon was the right answer )
Today a f****g HUGE thing turned up bristling with hydraulics.
Of course, I had forgotten to ask how much...
