I still occasionally use my 1970's vintage Ampliversal crimpers for wire stripping, they're that old some of the markings are imperial and thread cutters are BA sizes
+1 using mine yesterday in a compressor no space for side cuttersi just brought a irwin pair they are good too
Best be worried bout me too then, I must have 40 -50 in total must have ten in the draw by my side hang on will countWhat I'm realy worried about is your dedication to wire cutters /strippers.
If I'm doing any house wiring I use 3 tools to prep wire.
A pair of bahco ergo side cutters for cutting cable & splitting cable.
A pair of bahco ergo needle nose pliers for separating t&e cores, doubling over wires and getting them into awkward terminals.
A pair of ck strippers like these.
I have tried most of the types shown here but I keep coming back to these as they are the most versatile & the best.
Some may think it awkward using 3 tools but I wear a tool belt & it only takes seconds swapping between them.
I throw mine away when they get a notch in them its called cut a live wire and that's how they end up so why pay more for something that's knackered from newEvery one must have their favourites, for house bashing I prefer the sidecutters with the 1.5 & 2.5 notches as they cover 90% of the wiring, you can even use them to ring larger size cables if you're careful.
same here . it never happens to the old pair .my record was second cuti seem to do that with every new pair i get

It was in a mates kitchen; the daft ****** asked if I wanted a coffee and switched the DB back on behind my back !
Thanks everyone - bought a pair of these - much better than just using side cutters!
