Mine are sliding sash, and are so easy to fit, they came ready glazed. I used this site to force my local supplier down in price......

There's stone, and there's stone.....then there's granite.
use sparingly and it wont just don't go stupid use low expansion foam here http://www.wickes.co.uk/Great-Stuff-Window-and-Door-Gun-Foam-750ml/p/118354
Windows a said though I used the tixing brackets on a couple of mine.
Now the door, fix with brackets and follow the instructions.....most can be screwed through the frame, but Ive seen a few that are well distorted.
I used the brackets, foamed in place, once well set and alighned, door hammer fixings.
Get your supplier to measure them, the. Its his faukt if they dont fit
As the walls are thick I was thinking of maybe tapering the window openings in some of the windows rather than a square box to let more light in and think it looks nicer. Anyone done this and is it worth the effort?
Deep stone walls are usually done using two skins and rubble fill in between. If you are breaking into this to alter anything get ready for the rubble spilling out and making a mess it can be unstable when broken into.
Well some of you will know I was Involved in this industry a while. Your biggest issue on that fit is getting the French doors correctly packed and adjusted so they alighn perfectly in changing temps.
Looks like the windows fit behind the masons opening (looking on my phone). Have 10mm behind each and allow the frame to drain via vertical drainage and a stub cill or face drain. Remember to order appropriately.
Before you splash the cash on some UPVC go and visit Nordan in altens
The windows are HOW MUCH!!!
But the quality is utterly top notch
Not really. Is it white or coloured? Wood can swell but upvc expands and contracts wildly. You alway leave room for it. A tight fitting French door on a south facing aspect is like asking for trouble (best quick cure is a bucket of cold water . Personally I would not and did not fit upvc here because it's just too exposed. The expansion and damp is the problem we have with the timber. The French doors face onto the ocean. I presumed Upvc would move less, is this correct?
