I have some louvred bonnet sides but the problem is the bonnet top. I have a bonnet (not off my car but sold to me as such) but it’s approx 2-3” too narrow at the back (see foto). Is it feasible to cut the existing bonnet, insert some wedge shaped panel fillers & then reweld the bonnet such that the welded joints could be ground back level to disappear under the final paint coat. Or is this asking too much & should I just have top remade (costly).
I have inserted patches in the wings & ground the welds back to flat to a good finish but this is a much more lengthy length of welding, distortion?
Any thought how others might go about it.
