In our local waste transfer station it is free for private waste to be disposed of but commercial vehicles have to pay.
Trailers need a permit and you are limited to 12 permits a year but you have to specify exactly what will be in each load, no loose rubbish with everything bagged ready to put in the correct bin.
I have had a few issues, used to have an old Jeep Cherokee and turned up with a load of bagged rubble and was told I had to weigh it in and pay even tho I am not a business. More recently I was off to pickup some stuff with the trailer and stopped by the tip to drop off some rubbish that was in the back of the Disco, had just finished unloading and one of the guys came steaming down the road and ******** me for bringing a trailer in without a permit. Explained to him that the trailer was empty but apparently this breaks council rules, still not allowed in the tip without a trailer permit even if the trailer is empty!!!
