Hi folks,
I am new to welding and have bought myself a Clarke 151TE MIG welder.
I have a few projects i need to do, the main one being a set of mobile covers for my cricket pitch for which i am intending to use 30mm (3mm thickness) mild steel box section.
I have been practising welding together some 3mm "L" lengths of mild steel with mixed results. The two lengths of metal have fixed together but the weld is not pretty and thus probably not very strong. The tutorial i read on this forum showed pictures of the weld going through the metal but i have not managed to achieve this, it looks more like a surface solder joint.
I have had the welder on full power and have tried various different weld speeds.
Should i be using the 0.6mm wire which was supplied or should i use the thicker 0.8m wire?
Can anyone also recommend which type of gas i should be using?
Cheers,
Crossy
