Hi,newbie here...I'm looking to buy a MIG welder but my head is throbbing with all the choice and advice, going to be using it for car repairs and potentially(if I can master the black art)hardtailing an old motorbike I have and then who knows...there have been loads of occasions when I've thought "if only I could weld"
So what do I start looking at?...I'm drawn towards MIG welders as they seem the easiest to start with...regards budget,I'd rather pay a little more for something decent that will last and that I won't "outgrow" but I don't have a bottomless pit of cash, read a lot of bad press about Chinese pattern machines that are only really useful as boat anchors?
Who makes decent quality kit?
Then there's all this "gas" versus "no gas" issue, again I'm drawn to no gas and fluxed wire for simplicity but from what I've read the welds may not be as neat as when using gas.
Which brings me to my next concern...where do you obtain the gas and what sort of cost are we talking?
Thats it really any advice would be much appreciated.
