A 150A welder or above will need a blue plug, although a 150/160A can be run on a 13A plug it's not recommeded.

Peter
I'm running an SIP 170 on a 13A plug cos I didn't know any better till I saw your post - what is a blue plug and where can I find it
Edited to add
OK Google found me a blue plug 20A rating...... But as I'd need to make up an extension lead (just a short one) with a conventional 3 pin 13 Amp pug on the end I don't quite see any benefit
However I do have to rewire the garage soon so I could fit a dedicated line in from the main feed box to a blue plug and blue socket but I'd probably still need an extension lead to ensure I could work anywhere in the garage.....
how do you run a normal plug socket but ablue plug iwas told ineeded to get a cooker 30 unit fited in my shed but it all costs to much
