I have a multiweld, now out of business 180 mig, its a well made set with copper tranny, smoothing caps, output choke etc, the old machine has served well, but doesnt quite have the balls amps wise. I think the output rating is a bit over the top too.
So I did some research on the web and came up with these choices:
Miller 220 amp for a grand.
Lincoln powertech 270 for a grand.
SIP ideal 301 800 quid, but starting to think maybe not.
SWP 280/4, The figures look overated and I think its not a copper tranny.
Oxford 270-1, I have an old oxford stick set and its great, doesnt men to say new ones are though, whats this 'semi synergic' wire feed control, it sounds a bit like the crappy system sip use where the power for the wirefeed comes from the welding current and jumps all over.
