Hi there, mate of mines telling me to move on to 6011 and 7018 rods asap, but I can't seem to find them online without having to "apply for an account", not really used many online dealers so if you got any favourates that'd be great.
errmmm mystery why? 6011 are fast freeze rods used for pipe work, a 7018 is a basic electrode, used for lo-hi work, theres little need to jump to using them unless you have a need, also the 18s are only as good as the cleanliness and condition the rods are used under......
that said if you feel the need DIY welding would sell em......
6013 rods are fine for most things, in fact almost everything. 7018s are higher strength but require good storage conditions, so unless you are doing something structural.
nothing in particular mate, im just one of these anal people who likes to learn to do things for the sake of it. Will be welding up a bench soon when I draw it out & get down to my mates place to cut the metal up. got a bit more practicing yet though, and he reckons the welds look real nice when you can do 7018 properly.
