Hi guys, I'm looking to do some welding on my car floor pans and looking for a mig welder.
Went to a local company today and had a chat with the old guy there, what a collection of toys! Everything from £400 to £20k!
He recommended this one:
and the specs:
He said he could do for £390 inc some bits
He said for the £££ its a far better machine than the equvilant Clarke or SIP machines (he mentioned the wire feed issues you've mentioned with the SIP machines) and also metioned that they can have problems getting repeatable results because the transformers break down in them, where as these are better quality so don't have that issue. These are also made far far away (same as the Clarke/SIP), but built to British spec and they are checked when they get here
I asked if you can get parts for them and he said for 10 years
What do you think? Is it worth the £££?
Many thanx
Andy
