Hello Guys,
Not welded in about 10 years, last time as when I was in collage and did my btech in manufacturing engineering it was some sort of big red mig welder with separate wire feed. Right so I have been lurking on the forums for a while and i have now decided its time to pull the trigger on a new welder.
After contacting some suppliers I have been advised to go for either the Parweld 171 (WeldEquip) or the Oxford 200 or maybe look at the 180 as its a bit cheaper. The Oxfords do seem to have a good following but the price starts to get high for a single project.
I will be using full size bottles argon mix and will probably only have access to 13 amp maybe 16 amp at a push.
So I have a restoration project that needs some new sills, jacking points and a couple of small floor repairs-and maybe 1 or two other areas, looking at my name maybe you can guess its an Alfa Romeo 75.
Beyond this project I am not sure how much welding I am going to be doing if time permits it I will get another project that requires welding but im not sure due to other commitments after this year.
I also prefer to buy something that will last me rather than replace something in a couple of years. The Oxfords being made in England is also a plus but not a necessity.
Let me know your thought or if you have any other suggestions. Originally I was going to try and get a secondhand Lincoln but haven't been able to find anything very suitable for the budget that I can fit in the back of a saloon car.
