Hi folks,
I'm looking for some experienced advise as to what I should expect from a galvanizing finish. So far I have only used the local firm on two occassions for galv + T wash finish when clients have requested that look, otherwise I always have my exterior work blasted, zinc sprayed & vinyl top coated by another local-ish firm. That firm always produce a smoothe flawless finish.
I know that snots and drips are inevitible with galv, but as I haven't sent work to various galv firms I don't have a comparrison to draw on.
I have just had a few items back from the local galv firm and virtually every area of the pieces was covered in sharp / aggressive build ups despite me writing on my paperwork (as advised by the man on the phone) for a clean finish, dipped soon after the tank was cleaned.
Could people advise whether this constant degree of build ups is normal and to be expected from every firm, or are my local firm just rought handed? I know they rought handed, but I'm trying to gauge how bad they are in comparrison and whether I should give up on galv as a method of weatherproofing or just find another firm?...
In the images below are 25 x 3mm flat and a scroll a bit smaller than the size of my hand.
