    Hi guy,

I'm just wondering. Will I be able to weld brass air fittings to stainless steel using stainless steel wire with the mig?

  2. No would be the answer to the question. Brass melts long before stainless, so the brass fittings would end up molten before the stainless became hot. Having said that, theoretically it should be possible to braze brass to stainless (never tried it in practice), which means you could mig braze the brass to the stainless. Just need a conformation from someone who has done it to say it works ok

No, is the answer. But you could braze them.

Could you rivet, or drill and screw a brass backing plate to the stainless steel and braze onto that?

You can braze straight onto the stainless. You just cant weld onto the brass.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I'm just gonna weld a stainless nut on and screw the brass fittings on instead. Thanks
