Hi all, I am looking for a mig welder for a car restoration that I am about to undertake. I haven't welded for a few years but used to have a Cebora 180 (I think that was the model) that I had for years, must have bought it in the early '90s. It was very good on welding thin steel (or thin air) as well as thicker stuff and could run off a domestic plug. Ally welding was ok as well.
I am looking at getting a similarly versatile machine but not done any welding for years. I bought a small portable machine a couple of years ago but hated it so much I traded it back to the shop after a week and not welded since.
Heard much talk on here about Portamigs but never seen one and I am currently looking at a Millar 171 as they seem a reasonable thing. I have also been offered a Wilkinson Star 190, which looks a bit like my old welder but might be made in china?
I have gone cross-eyed looking at all sorts of makes on the internet. Any advice gratefully accepted.
