I often do get crazy ideas. I wonder what a weld would look like if my MIG welder shared an arc with stick electrode. Probably not a good idea to try this because i would imagine it would mess up at least one of the machines and i don't really understand what would happen with two earths going to two different machines on the same piece of steel. Or even if it would hold the arc.
So i thought i would google it before blowing myself up or something. Anyway i can not find anyone or any kind of information about anybody that has ever tried it.
This leads me to think that its completely insane and nobody has or can do it for a reason.
But my curiosity is still there.
I wonder what the actual weld would look like if this was possible, would 130 amps of stick weld and 130 of mig make it at 260 amp arc? i dunno. Would both machines pop? i dunno. Would it just trip at the mains or would there be an explosion lol. I don't know.
Anyone care to put my crazy idea to sleep please explain why and what would or could happen?
No question is a stupid question right?
