Hi Im new to the forum and need some advice on both voltage drop and possibly new welder choices.
Im restoring a T25 vw camper which needs minor welding , and have managed to borrow a 90 amp sip welder. It seems Im suffering from voltage drop as Im welding about 10 metres from the house. Im just about getting penertration when its near middle settings doing a straight run . But when spot welding Im having to use max settings and am getting hit or miss penetration.
Would stepping up to a more powerful welder cure these problems or make them worse? I have no way of welding closer to the house.
Im torn on welder choice , Ive owned a 150 amp sip welder in the past and had no problems with it at all. But from reading posts on here they seem to be a bit problematic. So if i needed to get a more powerful welder it would be a choice of another sip or a clarke.
I can get a new sip 150 through work really cheap , thats why I seek advice on the choice. Im also on a tight budget.
any help would be gratefully recieved
