Hi everyone,
Newbie TIG welder here, having huge issues welding stainless steel.
Everytime I try to lay down a bead, the filler material will just turn into a droplet with surface tension like water on a plastic board and not blend into the base material.
I have tried cleaning it with acetone, tried scratch the top layer off with sand paper, nothing helps, if I use too much heat I'll just melt the stainless steel.
I'm using 50 amps (tried 20-60 amps), DCEN (also tried AC), 2% thoriated tungsten, pure Argon, ER-308 filler material.
I have noticed that whenever I move my touch, there will be an arc that jumps from point to point, as if it's jumping to the next "hole", or jumping to another area that it finds the easiest path to arc with, you can see in the pic below where the arc wants to go to those "pits":
Tried searching google and everywhere, unable to see anyone else having the same issue as me, any input will greatly appreciated. Thanks
