I used some gert big 'uns when I built a decking frame years ago - they were a godsend for doing that because you could get so much torque on them without camming out.
A bit off topic but in a similar vein - when I worked in Canada a few years ago they used a lot of square drive Robertson screws - they were good also but you don't see many (any?) over here.
