I'm looking to buy an AC/DC Tig welder around the 4-500AMP rating. I work as a welder fabricator and use migatronic, murex, thermal arc and miller TIGS at work. I need a machine for my own use as I work self-employed as well, I do not want a chinese unit, I don't care how good they are mean't to be or whatever, I do not consider them to be top end equipment, fine for occasional or hobby use maybe but I can't see that they have the TECHNOLOGY in them that proper kit does. Also from what I've read the American manufacturers seem to make excellent machines that are built like tanks but lack the technology that the european machines have. Therefore my shortlist is now
Fronius
Kemppi
Lorch
EWM
Kemppi do not seem to make a 500 A set so i will not be able to consider them. I'm going to try a get a demo of the other 3 machines.
Does anybody have any comments on these machines, reliability, quality of welding, prices, good points, bad points, dealer back up. Each manufacturer claims their machine has certain features and if I scratch my head much more I won't have any hair left.
Thanks
