Until recently I had a good job working for a good firm earning a good wage MIG welding in manufacturing. Id been there a number of years and although it was boring I sort of thought I'd be there until retirement. That was until through my own stupidity I got sacked and if this wasn't bad enough it dawned on me to my horror I'm now 42 yrs old and not really skilled at anything.
The years just sort of passed by with me mainly MIG welding thin gauge stuff from 1mm - 3mm on exhausts or ducting and occasionally TIG welding albeit badly. Im working at the minute sort of blagging it MIG welding 10mm structural stuff, but its only a matter of time until my TIG welding skills or lack of them are rumbled.
The biggest problem Ive found is at my age its rather difficult to get help even though ironically given half a chance I actually think that Id make quite a good TIG welder as Im generally quite good with my hands and am a bit of a perfectionist in whatever I do
Ive looked into night school but it costs £500 which I simply don't have as my witch ex-wife seems to begrudge me having money. And any employer understandably wouldn't want to be paying me to practise so I'm kinda lost as to what to do.
I know it a long shot but if theres anyone out there in the Blackpool area with a workshop whod be willing to spend a couple of hours a week teaching me the basics I'd gladly pay you for your time.
Like I said its a long shot but its worth asking. Heres hoping. Matt
