A question or two on thrust bearings? - this bearing takes a shaft through it, which has a load on the end of it - the shaft rotates but only by hand crank so very slowly. It is a levelling box off a Dexta tractor to raise or lower one side of the bottom linkage.
The fit of the thrust bearing on the shaft is, as DB would say, Pee wobbly slack - you can see how far i can tip the bearing over in the photo.
When there is a load on it it tightens up, but when only partly loaded it rattles about. I'm not sure if the thrust bearing should be a tight fit on the shaft or not in the usual sense of a bearing?
The bearing is a tightish fit in the socket that it fits into.
I'm trying to find the manufacturer - the ref on it is RLS-01 and RT77. If it is the orginal bearing it will be 68 years old.
Any ideas?
