The XTI 202 I think is the same machine... the thermalarc is certainly the same as many others Weldskill/Firepower/Cigweld/Victor/Longevity even apparently. I'll see what the tech manager says tomorrow as he was polite enough to email me back at 10 to 9 this evening. The rest of the unit looks to be in fair condition in all honesty and my curious nature is leaning towards seeing what can be done. The service manual is pretty sh*t hot with its schematics/disassembly/assembly and troubleshooting procedures so I'm not completely running in the dark as I have done in the past with chinese made machines. It looks to be a unit that is made to be able to be fixed rather than discarded though after looking through the service manual... it all comes down to availability of parts. If I can get the PCB's reasonably priced it may be worth seeing what I can do. Previously I guess it may have been wrote off/repossessed and gone to a liquidator which explains the cable being cut off as its not intended to be repaired (depending on the insurers terms) if its been subject to an insurance claim. I asked the seller more about the machine and he even offered to offer me some money back if I decide to try to repair the unit so its not a total loss yet. I know I should probably take back the money and run!
