Guys, tiz the age old question I'm afraid
Ok chaps here is the deal...
I have been retraining as a blacksmith recently at a forge not too far from home, but the economic climate has suddenly brought this to an end. I have tried all the local options for work but there ain't any and I have to face the fact that I either have to start some small scale forging on my own with a filler job on the side, or give the dream up as a lost cause. I'm going for the first option ... I have some basic tools of the trade, but basic they are and I'll need to make what I don't have or can't find. with me so far?
I need a welder or 2 maybe..
I need to weld an Anvil stand and a leg vice stand both from thick-ish angle and plate. I need to weld smaller stock together, think candle stands,Froes, coat hooks, arty-farty bits and bobs etc. No gates or railings, no bridges cars or tanks for the time being at least.
I'm restricted to working with a small portable forge outside at the moment and with a standard domestic electricity supply till/when I find something covered, even then it will be basic.
I was thinking a small arc welder would do the job they seem to weld the thicker stuff well, and are inexpensive. Then maybe look to a hobby size mig like a Clarke later when I now what and where I'll be..outside gas less/inside with gas.I know I'll need a big job later, but remember it's just for the small stuff for now.
All this on a budget tighter than a duck ****...
Pause for laughter...
Ideas, thoughts,
