Morning all, been a while since i last posted anything but have come into possession of a nice big spot welder:

Finaly got a suitable 3 phase socket installed and noticed the water cooling wasnt recirculating, welder works fine. Pretty sure the problem lies in the big cable/hoses to the gun, seem kind of kinked. That and when i took the pipe off of the pump a jet of water hit the roof

Anyone any idea were to get and how much a replacement set would cost? or is there some cunning way to bypass the internal hoses with some hose pipe to the arms? took the clips off of the end of the hoses but cant remove the black sleeve to see how there put together

If you take the head apart, there should be some plumbing to feed & return the water through both tips, you need to find a way of connecting the cooling water in at that point. The cables do not need cooling.

Sorry to disagree but, OH YES THEY DO. We had one of these machines, and with out the water cooling the cables, they will start to smoke in less than 10 mins

Thanks for the info all my resistance welding experience is industrial and most cables are air cooled, the only ones I could think of that had cooling pipes in (kickless cables) just carried the cooling water to the tooling. Maybe the hobby/light commercial cables are smaller section (price!) so heated by the current more?

A company I worked for bought one, the guys came down and showed us the ropes and were confidant it would do the job, after been shown what we were doing and the number of welds per min.

I had the cables smoking in less than 10mins. So they brought another with water cooled cables did the same thing. So got rid and bought a Sealy believe it or not. It did the job, but we had to slow down a bit.

Around 8k amps ISTR the cables were multi strand, to aide flexibility, but were still 30mm dia, needed a balance spring or arms like popeye to hold the head for anymore than a few welds. Ended up making a stand and moving the work peice

Thanks for info! Been playing about with the cables a bit more and seems the outer black sheath IS the cooling hose! Water must flow around the electrical cable? Anyway, blew air through and flow was the same kinked or straight so must be elsewere

yours is the only proof the tecna spot welder 8000n exists....
i have the same but ded...
...so if you please i would like to be able to contact you by phone and discuss about this machine...
the cooling works great,but i can't figure out other stuff...

i will try to contact them but funding this thread seemed easier atm to get a pic or two and some advice...i bought mine not working and i just need to get it fixed...
