Hello, new to this forum but thought I'd post my findings on my new TecArc 211 which I believe is pretty much the same machine as a portamig 215.
I recently bought myself the 211 for a bit of a hobby business I have making wrought iron work. I knew the machine is a little undersize but due to the poor electrics I have on site thought it would be wasteful to buy a bigger machine. I also know someone who has done wrought iron work with a 175 amp Eland for many many years.
For my day job I use two Murex sets, a larger 350 amp three phase machine and a smaller 186 amp single phase machine.
I had hoped that the TecArc would be comparable to the single phase machine. So far this doesn't seem to be the case. The tecarc is a lot rougher with a coarse spattery arc which I believe is due to the lack of smoothing capacitors.
Has anyone else compared these machines to more expensive migs like the murexs?
Thanks.
