Guess is not the right one for that drill. It's a 1/3hp motor with a 1/2" shaft.
If you want a cheap motor and are in no particular rush to get the drill working, look for any cheap equipment for sale on FB marketplace with a suitable single phase motor. I've picked them up for peanuts. But to be cheap, the motor will be vintage and possibly dodgy unless you know what you are doing. The most common vintage motors (eg brooks, gryphon, etc.) will have 5/8" and 1/2" spindles. If your motor is 1.5hp I'm guessing it may have a 5/8" or 3/4" shaft. What would be a cheap motor to buy and would the pulley be compatible to reuse?

1/3HP is plenty for drilling, would labour if trepanningGuess is not the right one for that drill.

Are you colchester based? Not in rush as got a little pillar for the time being, so will keep an eye on a cheap single phase motor.
appreciated if anyone here would help in anything pretty cheap will come out.
I tried to look on Ebay but with no luck at moment.
Thanks
You can have the one I got for free, but only if you're going to use it otherwise I'll keep it on the shelf.
Old single phase motors are usually cheap and easy to find. Really old ones generally work fine but may have cracked insulation on wires, especially external (eg to start capacitor). I paid £1.00 for a single phase 1/3hp yesterday. Needed a new capacitor. All,
Thanks for helping out. I had to park this for a while as been busy with work.
I remove the 3 phase motor now and couldn`t find anything cheap and reliable on marketplace apart few old not tested motor. is there anyone kind to have a spare motor like 1/3hp or 1/2hp that could fit and use it?
I was also thinking to convert from pillar to bench as no need floor stand drill but bench would be more than enough and save some weight. can the vertical tube been cut and what would be the length to make like a standard bench drill?
Thanks
Do you know exactly what diameter the pillar is? I have been thinking of converting one of mine to floor standing - maybe we could 'swap' pillarsAll,
