I needed to modify my tap wrenches to use with 1/4" drive ratchets & bars to clean out threads in awkward places. This is what I came up with.
On the right one I tig welded a shortened 1/4 drive socket onto it.
I had to use an M8 nut on the left one as the grub screw for the tee handle goes in at the end & wouldn't fit through a socket.
In both cases I gripped the tap wrench in the lathe chuck & used the tailstock centre to hold the nut & socket centrally until I welded them. The socket was a bit funny to weld & I had to bump up the amps to get it to flow but it worked as the tap wrench has been successfully tested!
