Hopefully yes, but at the moment its just pocket money while I get the tickets - the lack of tickets prevent me finding decent employment, I should have cs38/39 in Jan or Feb.
I wont be trying to start up on my own any time soon, wouldnt know where to start.
I think a small compact stump grinder is the biggest machine that I could need, other than a chipper and tipper!
I agree the smaller ones will just take longer, and the improved access seems a big advantage to me. I doubt the hyundai would fit through the gate and down the narrow garden path on the last one, or be useable between the fence and shed.
Plus with recent wet weather, burning is not going to be the easiest task.
Current idea is that I need to find a suitably light and powerful 2T engine unit to make a chainsaw attachement type. If I aim for 5-7hp then it will only take 2-3x longer than the Hyundai, and time is not a great problem.
I am tempted to order a $300 Farmertech G660 but sods law it will arrive with £300 of taxes slapped on top. The G880 is not much more but it appears it would need a longer bar, which wont be practical for any trees I will be working on soon. G660 looks like the minimum recommended bar is 20".

As much as I enjoy a good fire, not a great idea when its touching the wooden fence and shed either side. Most trees I have removed so far, except the last, have been on a fence line, as is the next one.I remember way way back my dad would dig under a stump the best he could, chuck paraffin in,light it and let it burn smoulder out for days

Chainsaw ok for cutting about an inch above ground level but becomes a proper pain at or below the ground. Root fibres are twisted and seem slow to cut. Can be done but expect to destroy a chain, spend an age sharpening and make only slow progress.A chainsaw with common sense and careful handling can do the same job
