Hello everyone, this a combined greeting from a new member and first post so go easy on me....
I've been stick welding for a few months now with my Dads old welder that he was getting rid of, it's a sip 140 topweld and is the thick end of 40 years old, I've made a few basic things, trolley for the welder, rear bumper for my discovery, some other bits and have been practicing a lot.
The problem I have is the noise, I live in the middle of a terrace and weld in our small back yard, my misses was home when I was out there the other day and she commented on how loud the drone was from the welder as it was very loud and annoying from the living room at the front of the house. Now I know it's never going to be a very peaceful sport but the last thing I want as it's a rented house is a knock on the door from the landlord telling me I can't weld anymore as there have been complaints.
So I was just wondering if some of the more modern welders available would be any quieter than the one I have? I'm not fortunate enough to have a huge budget but I'm happy to go out and get another welder to avoid any conflict with neighbours. Seen a few "compact" 200a welders on eBay and wondering if they would hit the spot? Been looking at some vids on YouTube but it's hard to judge, some seem very quiet.
Don't know if anyone is familiar with my current welder but it does seem very loud!
Cheers.
