i have recently qualified as a metal fabricator and do stainless work but not much with pipe. i am hoping to build my own tubular stainless manifold for the astra vxr. if it all works out i would plan on making and selling them at a lower cost than the big company's because about 700 seems a rip off for a manifold which is what some of the top companys are asking for!
i will be going for a billet merge collector (same as pic below) as i think its the strongest way to go and easiest. flange for the head will be 12mm stainless.
i have a few questions on preparation like what way to bevel it, root face and fit up like any gap needed.
i will be purging it so any tips on that to get a good smooth weld inside? pipe will be 42mm outside with mm wall so and advice on amps and weld it in 1 or 2 runs?
any advice will be great as never done a manifold before so i want to do it right and make it as stong as possible. Thanks
i have a few off cuts to practice on and a lathe to get a good bevel.
