I think if your learning ......then you're likely to go through tips and shrouds fairly quickly. Like you I'm still learning 50yrs on and keep a lot of spares.Having received a MIG welder for Christmas, my birthday is approaching and I'm looking at accessories. I think I have figured out what gas bottle and regulator I Need (thanks for your help, elsewhere!)
Why would I want (this is typical of, for example, your typical online retailer which may be named after a South-American jungle) a pack of:
- 2 tipholders
- 5 shields
- 10 contact tips
OKay, contact tips, I get! Fair enough, after only a few weeks, mine's showing some wear and tear, but surely it takes quite some abuse to wear out a shield? And the tipholder is quite well protected. they're not expensive but do I need them? Are these ratios realistic? From what I've seen, this looks like a lifetime's supply.
Let the debate commence!
"Pingf***"I destroyed a tip holder last week, the spring came off and sprung across the workshop.
I'd like to be "above average". Considering the vast majority of people don't weld, that's quite a low bar!! :-)I think if your learning ......then you're likely to go through tips and shrouds fairly quickly. Like you I'm still learning 50yrs on and keep a lot of spares.
One day I hope to becomeexpert proficient reasonablegood enough.
As to spares ...I've not had any issues with no-name brands on eBay (if its a bog standard torch). TIG spares are a bit costlier.I'd like to be "above average". Considering the vast majority of people don't weld, that's quite a low bar!! :-)
Hello,But I've also
But I've also got £'s worth of kemppi spares that have been no use for anything since I sold the welder 5+ years ago!!
Hello,
Just read this. Would you happen to have any Kemppi Kempomat 150 spares among your batch for torch model MD15....specifically Tip-Holders and Nozzles ?
Many Thanks!
any Luck thus far....?I don't think so, I think it's all bigger stuff.
If you've got part numbers I've got a list on a computer I can search for.
Otherwise I'll try and have a look through them tomorrow and see what's there..
any Luck thus far....?
Thanks!
Ok, thanks for reply! Not yet.. all the stuff I have found so far is for the bigger torches.
I might have some smaller stuff somewhere but not found it yet. .
Yeah, that's true, they're relatively thin. It doesn't bother me. I like the 12mm shroud opening and I find that they clean up with a brushing inside quite well. So, if I could get lucky enough to get my hands on a couple more of them plus Tipholders, I'll be alright for a while. Until I have no choice but to convert the Torch to the Euro Torch set-up. The Benzel shrouds don't fit my Torch neck properly. too big. Those kemppi shrouds are quite thin, they don't tend to last as long as binzel type ones.
I'd be looking at 10 tips, 2 tip adapters, 2 shrouds.
