PS a lot of driving, brake shudders are caused by deteriorated brake reaction bushes on the wishbones allowing the front wheel to float forward and backward quickly whilst braking, mercs c and w class are famous for it. because of the front tie rod bushes are crap and the wheel movement bounces off the worn rubber and there is no natural rubber damping of the movement. one of the main culprits are 'VOID' style bushes. with free air gaps in the bushes.
whilst not merc bushes, these are void bushes and allow more movement into the air gaps
I am pretty sure the BMW330D share this design so could be susceptible to the same issues long fast downhill slight braking causes it to escalate into a massive frightening shuddering , in fact.
