Hi,
1st post on this site, so please bear with me.....
I am looking to purchase a welder, to restore and re-work my trailer which is, in the main, built from 6mm 50x50mm angle iron.
From looking at other threads the Clarke seems to be a reasoable choice, but which 1? The M*****e M**t brochure indicates there are the 150TE, 151TE, 160EN, 151EN all giving 150 amps (which seems to be the power that I need). I know the EN range allows gasless welding as well as gas welding, but what are the other differences (if any)?
Availability of spare parts also needs to be considered, hence the Clarke range, as the nearest M*****e M**t isn't far from me.
The garage is wired from the house on 4mm armoured conduit, with a 15amp fuse off the main house breaker, and a 16amp RCD breaker protecting the plug sockets.
I won't be doing a lot of welding (e.g long runs of commercial welding), although the restoration is going to be pretty intensive. After the restoration then just sprodic welding (re-welding the welds probably).
I am not a 'skilled welder' by any stretch of the imagination, but have 'done a bit' of welding in the past on other small scale restorations.
Any help and advice esp. on the Clarke range would be appreciated. The budget for a welder would be around £250ish.
Rgds,
Mark
