try gently cleaning the end thread up with a hacksaw blade
possibly thread it 1/2" unf with a split die on max, then keep reducing the die's diameter, till the nut screws on nicely, 1/2" tightened correctly will still be strong enough especially if using the deepest nyloc nut available, you used to able to get three depths of unf nuts, shallow- std and deep.do you think a m14 die would repair the thread I cant start the nut properly and have tried filing the start of it down for ages to no avail
Post it to menow it is off and in the garage i can try harder, so i need a 1/2" unf die and a 1/2" unf nyloc
i tried a new nut i even cut a slice in a nut to try still no joy.are you sure the nut isnt damaged as well, try a new one
Post it to me
I will sort it out for you
John btw I think I have some deep 1/2 unf nylocs left over from the metro 6r4 days here somewhere if they are needed.Post it to me
