OK, have read quite a lot over the last few days about known issues with my model....
I bought mine about 12 years ago and, although not great, it worked...
I haven't used it in a coupe of years and now have a new project on the go so am trying to use it again....
first off i got a wierd issue with wire feed, holding the gun in the clear air the wire seems to feed without issue, but as soon as i try to weld it sticks and burns back to the tip. each time a little tap on the side of the shroud releases it.. tried upping the tension on the feed a fraction and it just knots up at the feed rollers...
took out the current liner and swan neck liner.. seem Ok and very easy to pass wire through.
the top few layers of wire on the spool were a little bit dusty (not really rust) so I ran that off and now am down to running just nice bright clean wire...
I will get hold of new liners anyway and see what effect that has... (tried new tips,,,,)
the second issue i had was whilst diagnosing the above issue... I tried winding the wire speed up to max and spooling some wire out into clear air... at which point there was a bang and all went dark... reset the circuit breaker for the workshop and had a closer look... all seems fine except, the fan motor has stopped completely, a bit of checking and the motor is totally dead. everything else 'seems' to function ok. odd as i can see the fan motor is wired directly to the mains input, so cant work out why it may have been related to what i was doing, maybe just coincidence....
However, try as i might i cannot find a replacement motor..
now looking for an equivalent motor i can use -
so... any suggestions are more than welcome... other than the obvious.... I just can't afford a new MIG welder right now
