My sills are bent up after I made the mistake of lifting the body off the chassis by the sills when dismantling. I could probably pull them back into shape, but as the car is stripped down and being redone, and parts of the sills are rusted anyway, I thought about modifying them to eliminate the seam joint. Once eliminated I can then raise the rock rails (the steel rails that attach to the chassis and protect the sills off road). I think the car will look much better, it will look higher (illusional, I know) and the rock rails will be closer to the sills making it look more slick.
Hopefully this sketch shows what I'm thinking. Does anyone see any problems with this? I will put in drain holes of course.
The circles on the second sketch are where the new welds would be.
