Hello guys,
I'd like to buy a mig welder for my workshop, mainly for general car repairs, bodywork, exhausts, up to LandRover chassis and bumpers; some kind of allrounder
Basically something to cover the thinner metal range, for ocassional heavy stuff I have stick welder (MOSA300), which I'm absolutely happy with - although she's used more as a backup generator than a welder
I have 16A socket, but I want to run it when needed of 13A (where 16 is not available, friend's garage or so), of course in lower settings
I deciced to go for Sealey brand, I want one that takes 15kg reels, will take Y gas bottle (industrial size, half height), and has Eurotorch. Budget is some £400, for the welder, not counting consumables.
1.) SuperMig (gas only) or MightyMig (gas/no gas)? I'd normally use it with standard refillable bottle, is there any practical advantage of the "gasless" option?
2.) what amps? I'm thinking about SuperMig 180 or 200, or MightyMig 170 or 190, but willing to listen to more experienced...
