hi everyone
Hoping you can help with the following:
So I have a sealey supermig 180 v2 like this
And it is a complete b*tch!
Basically I bought it second hand and it was always a bit of trouble from the get go but I assumed it needed a little love. It's had issues with wire feed from day one and ive been trying to fix by replacing liners etc with no better result and now I just want somone to pull a miracle out of the air and tell me what's up or just point me in the direction of a shotgun so I can blow holes in the fecker.
It comes from factory with a standard hard wired (not euro) gun with a nylon liner, first off I replaced the liner and found it to be no better.
So I took the opportunity to retro fit a euro connector torch and gas valve. This brought a nice steel liner in the 4meter torch. Also, the connector on the machine introduces a brass tube which runs to the wire feed motor / rollers to help guide the wire where it needs to go.
So you'd have thought that would fix all, but no.
The wire feed is inconsistent, leading to uneven splattery welds and eventually a jam. If I strip the entire wire length from the torch and replace the tip il get a few seconds of consistent 5/10 seconds of welding beffore the problem starts again and it just gets progressively worse.
I've ordered a replacement steel liner and a replacement euro connector for the machine, but after that... what else? The motor? The feed pcb? How much effort beffore I just bin it and buy a new one
