Hi all,
trying to decide on my first welder for car bodywork etc.
By the looks of the forum posts, there are many more postings on Clarke than Sealey.
Would this suggest that Sealey are more reliable or better quality than Clarke?Si.
Whoops, just looked at forum rules and probably not a good question to ask.
Horses for courses I guess and much of a muchness.
Could even come from the same factory possibly, like many things these days, just in different branding.
Have a good weekend one and all.
Si.
What was it in the rules that seemed to outlaw such questions? Nothing in there was intended to.
I don't know the answer myself. Personally I don't trust the Sealey Siegen brand as that's a bottom of the range brand that seems to be intended to compete with other people I wouldn't buy from. If you do consider those be sure to check the specifications very carefully against the buyers guide as some don't seem very useful. I'd imagine China made, spec not useful, cheap.
The Sealey welders themselves (without the Siegen) seem to be Clarke competitors. That's the minimum standard I'd aim for in order to get anything useful. I think both are European made.
SJ&B which island are you on?
Don't know about Guernsey but there aren't any dealers for Clarke on Jersey (though Steve Pallot (L C Pallot) can get them sent over. Steve can get the Sealey's for you and the bits and pieces)
I have a Sureweld 181 aka Sealey 185 (all made by Telwin, different colour) 30-170A. If you're on Jersey feel free to PM me and have a go on my mig if you want to.
