This afternoons update:
Im really puzzled now. I replaced the pot, soldered and heat shrinked. While I was 'inside', I had a closer look at the wiring and noticed the black wires to and from the trigger were both joined by spade terminals, a male and a piggyback on each one. So I cut these out and soldered and h/s. The terminals looked 'factory' by the way they were crimped. Should they have been connected to something? One ran from the rectifier and one from the pcb.
Anyway, I tried the machine out, and............... It works!
I have no idea how I fixed it, couldnt have done it without your expertise! Thanks to all that replied!!!!!!!
Heres the pictures of those black wires before and after. Any thoughts?
