As some of you may or may not know. I have recently had a nightmare with a local paint shop, who have totally screwed up the paint on my 2002 Tii resto project....Don't ask...It's a long story. But basically, just a terrible finish, not major reactions, or fisheyes, or anything, just a really poor job.
I would like to know what is involved in getting the car back to a standard ready for some fresh 2K top coat (again).
1). Do I need to totally remove the current paint and primer layers ? It was a bare metal job/new panel e coating originally, before the paint shop touched it. I did the primer layers (2 coats Lechlers Expoxy, followed by filler work and a further 2 coats of Green Ti filler primer. It was a decent prep job....I think)
2). Or does it just need dry sanding of the top layer back to a nice flat finish and simply top coat it again ?
If 2. What grades would you recommend I work through ?
If 1. I'll just start crying !!!
