Someone has hacked ardvarks account, it can't be ardvark, this post is far to too sensibleI have owned 2 Renault in my time.
First was a Renault 11, what a pig.
Suffered from carb icing, randomly. Always on the slow speed choke. When it suffered anything under 45mph was imposible. Over 45 mph sweet.
Swapped the carb with a one from a Volvo, same engine. Set it up today, tomorrow I would run weak or rich or just dump fuel.
Another carb and it was drivable. But would sometimes suffer from a fast idle.
All that was when it wanted to be a ............
Then turning right on a roundabout the seat base decided to spilt and I rolled into the passenger seat. Only stopped by the seat belt.
It was junked the same day.
Then a few years later I was given a 1.4 Renault 5, nippy fast reliable and fun. Only needed to service that and new brakes. I passed it onto a friend who drove it until the engine expired as it had sprung a leak.
Would I have another?
If I needed a cheep car and nothing else was around yes, but to go and look for one, no.
All makes have good cars and bad cars, as the saying goes.
Pay your money, take your chance.
