Hi,
I've just bought a record router plane and it's in lovely condition. Some people like to collect these tools but I like to put them to work, as they are fantastic.
The plane is covered in linseed oil, some which has dried clear and other bits are still wet/tacky. I want it off, but don't want to ruin the baked on Record blue paint.
Any ideas? Tried water with limited success, don't want to try solvents or hard brushing in case it lifts the paint or decal, it's 65 years old.
Cheers
