Another newbie question. Say I was doing a fillet on some mild steel and the weld didn't penetrate one of the plates properly, is it ok to go back over it and re-melt the bead (no filler) to tie it in?
I tried this and sometimes it looked ok, but other times it looked like there was some porosity in the weld. If you're going to do this, should it be done while the weld is still hot, or let it cool, wire brush and try again?
Will doing this affect the strength of the weld?
Thanks
Fergal
