Hi All,
I have read most of this forum and gained a lot of info but I am still confused as to what welder to buy mma, tig or mig I bought an SWP auto helmet which as helped!
I am a 40 year old at college being taught welding as part of my engineering course and have used mig and mma. Mig seems easier but is expensive and seems like more can go wrong with the actual machine such as wire feed or running out of gas, while mma seems harder to learn and needs a better technique to get a good weld.
So....
If I persevere with stick (mma) can I use it for everything else such as gates, benches, trolley's, carts etc but not car repairs?
If you had £200 to £300 for a welder would you buy a mig or a mma/tig machine that will run on a plug top? If its mma would you buy an inverter?
The machines we use at college are Fronius and are inverters and I have only welded 6 mm steel so far.
Thanks
Paul
