need some advice, more about weight capacity really.
I want to make a pull up bar to compliment my weights bench. its pretty much all I need now apart from a replacement for my punch bag as its fairly old and split in a few places.
anyway, I have 3M of 20mm box x2mm wall. I plan on making a fairly simple design, 1M wide section for the actual bar, about 600mm distance from the wall, 5mm thick flanges welded on to mount to the wall with 4 masonry bolts, and some 45 degree bits to brace it from the plate to near the end of the 600mm sections too.
do you think this will be strong enough? I used to have one of the ones you hang on a door frame, and that was fairly flimsy made from 20mm bent tube and then some 25mm tube for the 'bar'. it worked well until the door frame gave up.
also, do you think it would be best to brace from below the bar, or above it?
