Hi all,
Can anyone help im fabricating an adjustable seat for welding, i have a few
fillet welds to do in 10mm, but i seem to be having trouble with the start
im using 2.5mm rods but at the start there seem to be a lot of slag making it
impossible to see the weld pool once im going after 10mm its great , ive got
two makes of rod esab 46.00 and oerlikon overcord g maybe they are damp
i dont know, ive used other rods where you can lay it in the grove with slight
pressure and it just burns away, im having trouble when i stop and restart
also, the oerlikon rods like to be off the work piece slightly, the esab rods
you can let them burn in laying them into the work piece with slight pressure,
but the same problem at the start the slag also gets under causing pin holes etc, ive cut and shaped all my steel for my seat but i will be making a practice
piece first before welding it all up, ive also used the zodian rods which are
great but i aint got any, i can run a flat bead weld perfect any ideas cheers ocean
