Afternoon all,
I'm restoring a WW2 Scammell recovery truck (see pic), and I've nearly finished completely re-skinning the cab.
When I started I thought it would be a good idea to make the panels out of galvanised steel, but now a friend has said that I'm going to have problems getting paint to stick to it. He said something about the galv constantly leaks a sort of greaseyness??
I had always planned on using etch primer, and have used Tetrosyl GEP005 etch primer in the past on plain steel and blasted items with good results, but I now want to make absolutely sure that what ever use on this galv is going to stick like s*$t on a blanket.
I read a lot about Upol Acid #8, and people saying its good stuff.
So any comments / suggestions would be much appreciated. Also I use one of those 3M twin filter mask thingys, so what ever paint I use, has to be suitable for use with that mask.
Many thanks, Richard
