We did a refurb on an old brewery in Hertford years ago. They wanted to replicate the urns and the rail heads on the original railings. Half of them were missing, so I took one of each of the originals to a local foundry who sandcast new ones in cast iron for us. Worked out at about £15 a rail head and £35 for the urns . Watched the guy do a few of them . Made it look very easy and he was very quick .
Also had some ornate angle brackets made with scrolls etc from the original cast iron ones. Took these to a different foundry who made them in aluminium.
The original weighed around 30 kg each , so I had a few admiring looks when carrying 4 of the aluminium copies into site in one go
